Skin Examinations

A skin examination uses a specialised device to highlight the first five layers of your skin. This process helps us gain a clear understanding of your skin’s current condition.

This can reveal various aspects, including healthiness, dryness, sensitivity, pigmentation, scarring, acne, oiliness, and dead skin cells.

With this information, we can create a more precise POA for your skin, ensuring better results than a generalised approach.

Here’s the step-by-step process I follow when treating a client’s skin based on the examination results:

01

Establish a Healthy Skin Base

My first priority is creating a healthy skin base, which appears as a blue glow under the examination lamp.

02

Address Sensitivity

Next, we focus on reducing any sensitivity, identified by a pink glow, and work to transform these areas into healthy blue skin.

03

Treat Dryness

We then address areas of dryness, which appear as a purple glow, and work to convert these into healthy blue skin as well.

04

Focus on Pigmentation, Acne, Scarring, or Fine Lines

Once a healthy skin base is established, we can address the more advanced skin concerns. Pigmentation, acne and scarring are visible as dark patches. Fine lines or wrinkles are visible to the naked eye.

A healthy skin is better prepared to tolerate more advanced treatments and active ingredients, allowing for more effective results.

Hydra Test

During your skin examination, I will also conduct a hydra test, which measures the oil and water content of your skin. The higher the percentage and bars, the healthier your skin.

Testimonials

Louise

" Before coming to see Emily for a facial I thought my skin was pretty normal, I have never had any concerns with my skin.  At the beginning of my facial she did an examination of my skin and showed me what was happening with it. I have a lot of sensitivity on my cheeks and pigmentation patches on my forehead. I would never have known this if I didn't come to see Emily. Thank you for your advice."

Hayley

" I booked a consultation because I was curious if my skin was truly oily. Turns out, it’s actually sensitive! I had no idea and had been treating it as oily for years. The explanations I received were eye-opening, and it made so much sense. I finally understand my skin better, and I’m so grateful for the insights!"

Philippa

"I had no idea how bad my pigmentation was until it was pointed out during my facial. After our chat, we figured out that all those years in my 20s spent outside without any SPF really took a toll on my skin. It was such a revelation, and I appreciate the guidance on how to start addressing it. Wish I’d known sooner, but I’m glad to be on the right track now!"
